West Coast modernism: Home tour and exhibit

Blog by Robert Matthews | June 18th, 2019

The West Coast Modern Home Tour on July 13 highlights west coast modernist homes by iconic Canadian architects like Fred Hollingsworth and E. G. Poskett, as well as contemporary designers. Self-guided, or choose the bus option and leave the driving to someone else. You can chat and debrief with other architectural aficionados at the informal wine reception afterwards.

And as a companion exhibit, the West Van Museum is currently featuring “Design for Living: West Coast Modern Homes Revisited”. The exhibition looks at a number of our iconic west coast homes that have been restored, updated and adapted to the needs of contemporary family life, while remaining true to their modernist spirit. More info about the exhibit here.

Tour: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Reception (Eagle Harbour Yacht Club) 4 to 6 p.m.

Option 1: Bus + Reception: $136.50

Option 2: Own Car + Reception: $126.

Option 3: Own Car (No Reception): $110.

This may seem a bit pricey, but think of it as a unique opportunity to experience our architectural heritage up close and personal. I continue to be inspired by ideas and observations from the first time I attended the tour a few years ago.
