Fall: Often the best and busiest time to buy and sell in Metro Vancouver!

Blog by Robert Matthews | September 29th, 2014

If there's ever a broad consensus on the best time to buy or sell real estate, that time is...now! Summer holidays are over, people are back to work, kids are back at school. Fall is often a traditional time to move forward and make changes.

Typically the fall season from now to early December can be one of the busiest times in real estate. More homes, townhomes and condos are on the market than most other times of year. More people are looking to buy as well.

If someone considering a move doesn't sell or buy now, he or she may be waiting until spring. 60 days from firm offer to possession of a home is typical. Most deals done in the next 60 days will complete before year-end; most by December 15th as very few deals complete during the holiday season. A delay now means selling and/or buying in the quieter December/January timeframe with completion next spring. This could be good for buying a home, but not necessarily for selling! If you'd like to get moved before the new year, the clock is ticking...
