The fall sales season: Maximizing value, fine tuning timelines

Blog by Robert Matthews | August 18th, 2015

The traditional fall selling season is almost here. Are you thinking of making a move? We should talk today, as there's much to do ahead of the actual listing to maximize the value of your home. I’d be happy to send you my recently published 20-point Seller's Guide as well. Just ask!

Typically, the fall season from now until mid-November can be one of the busiest times in real estate. More homes, townhomes and condos are on the market than most other times of year. More people are looking to buy as well. Many deals will be done in the next several weeks!

It's all in the timing

Those wishing to make a move and be settled before year-end should focus on selling or buying within the next couple of months.

60 days from firm offer to possession of a home is typical. Most deals done in the next 60 days will complete before year-end; most by December 15th as very few deals complete during the holiday season.

A delay now means selling and/or buying in the quieter December/January time frame, with completion next spring. This could be good for buying a home, but not necessarily for selling! If you'd like to get moved before the new year, the clock is ticking...

I've been fielding a number of calls already from contacts and clients considering a fall move. Do feel free to contact me anytime via a quick email or phone call at 604-328-9006 if you'd like to discuss possibilities and options. I'm always happy to chat!
