A few island homes here in the Pacific Northwest

Blog by Robert Matthews | June 30th, 2022

Many of us dream at one time or another of getting away from the city to an idyllic island property. Here's a few beautiful island homes here in the Pacific Northwest, to inspire a bit of wanderlust.

This Bowen Island home may be based on the classic island cabin but it's thoroughly modern inside and out. Stacked on two levels to preserve the natural landscape, this home shows classic west coast wood and expansive glass materials to great effect.

This one-story, 1600 sq ft Orcas Island rancher may be small, but has more than its share of wonderful simplicity, practicality and natural harmony. The home is separated into two distinct areas, with the private living area at the east end, and a large social space that opens onto a deck at the west end. Fully retractable wall panels can close the house entirely during winter storms.

Weekend visitors might just want to move in permanently to this luxury Quadra Island home. Lots of challenges building this one, given its relatively remote location off the coast of northern Vancouver Island. But so worth it.

This low-key Whitby Island home was built in three separate units to fit in amongst a stand of majestic Douglas fir trees. From the outside, the home seems to disappear into the landscape; from the inside, walls of windows reinforce the "at one with nature" feel.

And now for something a bit different, let's jump to this lovely Mediterranean villa on the island of Mallorca.
