Millennial home buyers are doing it their way

Homebuyers in their 20s and 30s are bringing their own unique, refreshing spin to the real estate market. As this recent article in the Globe and Mail notes, millennials may be moving to the suburbs for affordable housing, but, perhaps more so than the generation before them, they're also looking for a real sense of community, urban perks, and walkable neighbourhoods. 

The infographic below, meanwhile, while based on U.S. research, shows that this age group is seeking some of the same things as their parents. In affordability-challenged Metro Vancouver, however, there's no doubt that fewer young people see themselves owning a traditional family home, particularly in the neighbourhood of their youth.
